Motivating virtual workforce is a challengeable situation for employers in all over the world as they need to adopt virtual motivation techniques for its workforce

It is essential to maintain a strong communication with
employees during virtual works as the employer, managers or leaders and
employees do not connect face to face and there should be proper communication
channels to convey employees’ organizational expectations and constantly
maintain contact with employees during the crisis and address their problems

the sense of belonginess
It is essential to convey the sense of belonginess for
employees during virtual works and organization need to address employees’
issues with technological tools and need to establish a virtual community for
supporting employee problems both work-related and personal

virtual teams
Organization needs to establish and promote virtual teams to
avoid employees’ isolation and enhance collaboration to achieve desired
performance from its employees

Organization can be motivated individuals and teams by
maintaining virtual visual scoreboards based on their performance and
achievements to enhance employee motivation and productivity

flexibility in work
Virtual working environment put extra responsibility on
employees to handle both work and personnel life. Thus, it is essential to
assign flexible work schedules for employees

rewards, recognition and constant feedback
It is essential to offer rewards and recognition for
employees even online platforms and constant feedbacks are essential to keep
motivated workforce. Organizations can provide monetary and non-monetary
rewards for employees for their performance
Example- Salary Increments, health insurance
Conclusion
Employee motivation is crucial for achieving desired
performance from employees in a virtual working environment as employer and
employees do not physically connect and organization need to address several
issues without motivated employees such as productivity losses, less target
achievements, increasing cost etc. Thus, employer have a larger responsibility
towards maintaining employee motivation, if not the entire operations become
disrupted
